Hispaniola 2

Bonds between the Dominican Republic and Haitian business communities were strengthened when a cooperation agreement between The Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (FEDOCAMARAS) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CCIH) was finally inked.

Both umbrella organizations represent the national chamber of commerce chapters in each country with FEDOCAMARAS representing approximately 8,000 Dominican companies and CCIH representing more than 1,000 Haitian enterprises, thereby solidifying the relationships between the private sectors of both nations.

The agreement, signed by Mr. Pedro Pérez, President of FEDOCAMARAS and Mrs. Carline Joseph, President of CCIH, looks to contribute to the development of commercial and economic relations between the two countries through the exchange of information and the participation of joint activities such as trade fairs, commercial missions, seminars, and among others the fostering of joint investments. The collaboration plans to analyze problems that arise during binational commercial exchanges with the aim of presenting joint resolutions to the relevant authorities in both countries.

The strengthening of binational institutional ties was achieved with the support of the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) within the framework of the Haiti/Dominican Republic Binational Programme, funded by the European Union under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) and the support of the National Authorizing Offices in both countries – Dirección General de Cooperación Multilateral (DIGECOOM) and the Bureau de l’Ordonnateur National du Fond Europeen de Developpement (BONFED).
