Dominica to get $100,000 USD from Bridgetown, this as Cave Hill hopes wages in order for end of September
Barbados’ Freundel Stuart regime pledged US$100,000 in financial assistance to Dominica following damages caused by Tropical Storm Erika on August 27.
He also said the Caribbean Emergency Disaster Management Agency (CDEMA) has set some goals for member states of CARICOM to contemplate a contribution of about US$100,000 to the island’s recovery efforts.
“I just want to make it very clear that having received that information I gave instructions to the Minister of Finance of Barbados that the US$100,000 should be made available to Dominica as soon as possible,” Prime Minister Stuart stated. “And of course we will put all the machinery in place necessary to ensure that that money is received in this country with haste because we recognize that this is money that is needed to try to get this country back on its feet and to get some normalcy restored to the lives of our people.”
The embattled Bajan leader gave no indication when his own country would get back on its own feet, with tertiary education under a ricing structure unlike Germany’s which is free, a tax scheme which is comparable to a starving man eating his own foot and other hardships…
He added, “I want to congratulate CDEMA for the role that it has played ever since this tragedy struck here in Dominica. I am aware that it has done an enormous amount of work and has trained to do some goal setting for countries and CARICOM.”
