CLOSE TO 30 LBS OF COCAINE LANDS GUYANESE CREW MEMBERS TO BE CHARGED

Police have formally jointly charged the following persons, who are crew members, with drug offences in relation to seizures on 10 September 2015.

They are Guyanese nationals:

Coco Ibert Prophett 29 years (Cook); and
Paul Fraser, 42 years (Sailor).

They were jointly charged with:

1. Possession of cannabis;
2. Possession with intent to supply cannabis;
3. Trafficking cannabis
4. Importation cannabis;
5. Possession of cocaine;
6. Possession with intent to supply cocaine;
7. Trafficking cocaine; and
8. Importation of cocaine.

On 10 September 2015, Drug Squad personnel assisted by members of the Coast Guard and Customs Enforcement conducted a search aboard the MV ‘Lady Sandra‘, a cargo vessel, from Guyana, which at the time was berthed at the Bridgetown Port. The search discovered 14.5 kgs of cocaine and 2 kgs of cannabis.
