BIMFILMS 2015 Goes International

The Barbados Visual Media Festival, now renamed “BimFilms“, will once again be hosted by the Barbados Film & Video Association Inc. (BFVA) from October 1st to 31st this year. The Festival will feature a series of screenings of local films across Barbados, filmmaking and screenwriting competitions as well as the prestigious Barbados Film Industry Awards ceremony to be held on October 21st, which recognizes and rewards the work of those in the local film sector.

Only in its second year, the Festival has already extended its offerings to include content from not only Barbados and the rest of the Caribbean but also North America and Africa. The work of Barbadians will be screened alongside those of the Caribbean Travelling Film Showcase which includes content from our French and Spanish speaking neighbours in the Caribbean.

The Festival will also welcome young filmmakers from South Africa who have been touring Africa and North America with their award winning film "Thina Sobabili" (The Two of Us). The South Africans are expected to be in Barbados for the week of October 19th, 2015 for the International component of this year's Festival.
