Barbados Reiki Association Marks 20 Years with 3 Day Celebration

The Barbados Reiki Association is marking its 20th anniversary with a multi-event celebration to be held from September 25 to 27, 2015 under the theme “Honouring the Past; Building the Future“. The aim of the celebration is to honour the founding members, celebrate achievements and strengthen commitment to creating a strong future. The programme will kick off with a Reunion Luncheon to be held on September 25 at Country Farm, Belle Plantation, St. George, from 12-3pm.

"We're inviting all Reiki practitioners in Barbados, past members of the Association and their friends and family to come out to celebrate the gift of Reiki healing and the Association's work over the last 20 years. It will be an exciting afternoon, with quizzes, prizes, a video presentation featuring memories and photos from the Association's earliest days and commemorative gifts," says the Association's President Sharon Hurley Hall. A highlight of the celebration is a public event, Reiki on the Boardwalk, to be held on Saturday, September 26 from 2-6 pm at the South Coast Boardwalk. There, Reiki practitioners will offer free mini-treatments and information on Reiki practice to members of the public. “We want everyone to have the chance to try Reiki and experience its benefits, “says Sharon.

As part of Reiki on the Boardwalk, ArtsEtc will stage readings related to health and the environment. The readers will be Sarah Venable, Edison T. “Theo” Williams and Linda M. Deane, who is a co-founder of ArtsEtc.

We strongly believe poetry and storytelling have a vital role to play in our all-round well-being,” says Linda. “Well done to the Barbados Reiki Association for coming up with such a fun and creative event.” The event will also feature a young people’s rap session on Spirituality and Healing.

The celebrations will culminate on Sunday 25 September with the Association’s Annual Retreat. This event is for Reiki practitioners only and will be held at Balls Plantation. This year’s theme is “Reiki for All: Going Within to Get Reiki Out”.

“The Retreat is always a great opportunity for fellowship and reflection,” says Ms Hurley Hall. “Since this year it’s part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, we expect it to be even more special as we take time out to vision the next 20 years of Reiki healing in Barbados”.

We urge all Reiki practitioners, whether they are members of the Association or not, to reconnect with us during these celebrations. We are a loving, caring family, using a marvelous healing modality in support of each other and the wider community,” says Sharon.

Reiki practitioners wishing to attend the luncheon or the Retreat should contact the Association to reserve their space on barbadosreiki@gmail.com by September 15, 2015 to receive the early bird special
