Animated fandom will be out in their pageantry this weekend at the Flow AnimeKon Expo, the Caribbean’s premier pop culture convention taking place at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
Now in its sixth year, the event is being held under the theme ‘Fantopia – Where reality far exceeds all imaginings‘, and according to coordinators Melissa Young and Omar Kennedy, that’s exactly what fans can expect during the two-day extravaganza.

And already the creative enterprise is paying dividends with telecommunications provider Flow recently joining as title sponsor.

“As Barbados’ leading full-service provider, we are driven to connect people, and equally as important, we want to help connect their ideas. In AnimeKon, we have a platform where the numerous benefits of telephony will be immediately seen. We are very excited about the possibilities.”

AnimeKon caters to the latest and greatest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies and television. The convention also provides fans with in-depth panel discussions and workshops catering to a host of related topics including graphic design, costume design, stage design and production.

The highlight of the expo has always been the highly-anticipated Cosplay Tournament, where participants don elaborate costumes mimicking their favourite characters.
