City Of Miramar To Hold Town Hall Meeting Opposing Oil Drilling

(SOUTH FLORIDA CARIBBEAN NEWS) City of Miramar Mayor, Wayne Messam has called on all Broward County mayors and elected officials to join him in a Town Hall meeting to discuss environmental implications of oil drilling in Broward as a result of the recent application filed by Kanter Real Estate LLC.

If approved, the drilling would take place approximately 6 miles west of the City of Miramar with potential impacts to the sheet-flow of the Everglades and current Everglades restoration projects, contamination of surface waters, effects on wildlife, and the enormous risk to the Biscayne Aquifer – a primary source of drinking water for millions of our residents in Broward County and beyond.

"The City of Miramar, Broward County and our cities cannot sit idle as oil drilling could potentially threaten our quality of life and harm our precious national resources," says Messam. (IMAGE VIA - 1080plus.com)
