Former Pakistan captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, will replace his compatriot, Shoaib Malik, for the Barbados Tridents in the Hero Caribbean Premier League.

Malik has been called up to the Pakistan squad for the One Day International series against Sri Lanka, and will play his last game for the Tridents on 3rd July against St Lucia Zouks.

Misbah will bring plenty of experience to the defending champions. A veteran of 57 tests, 162 ODIs and 39 T20Is for Pakistan, he is one of the most consistent batsmen of the last few years in international cricket. CPL 2015 will mark Misbah’s second appearance at the Biggest Party in Sport, having played for the St Lucia Zouks in 2013.

Misbah’s first match with the Tridents will be against the Jamaica Tallawahs at Sabina Park on 11th July.

Tom Moody, Hero CPL Director of Cricket, said: “Shoaib has been fantastic in the CPL so it’s a shame to lose him, but we’re delighted that he’s back in the Pakistan squad and we wish him every success in the upcoming series. Misbah is one of the most respected cricketers in the world, and we’re sure he’ll be an excellent addition to the Tridents squad.”

Hero CPL 2015 began on 20th June, with global superstars including Kevin Pietersen, Jacques Kallis and Shahid Afridi joining the Caribbean’s finest cricketers, like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo, and exciting up-and-coming local talent. The tournament has already provided plenty of excitement, with packed crowds, an unrivalled party atmosphere, two last-ball thrillers, and a sensational 90* from just 36 balls from Chris Gayle.
