Barbados Tennis Ace Aims At Wimbledon

BARBADOS IS likely to be represented at Wimbledon this summer by Darian King. According to his brother and coach, Chris King, the 23-year-old, having achieved a ranking of 251, stands every chance of being invited to qualify for the most famous tennis championships in the world.

According the UK’s Voice Online, the coach said: “The last two years the cut-off for the Wimbledon qualifying has been around 260 so I believe he has a great chance of making it in the draw and creating history again for Barbados,” he said.

The right hander has represented Barbados at the Davis Cup and earned a modicum of success there, but achieving an all-England berth would be the highlight of his career.

Bridgetown-born King has won $56,173 in his singles and doubles combined.
