The Barbados Diabetes Foundation will host its first annual multi-disciplinary diabetes conference on June 13 and 14 at Hilton Barbados, Needham’s Point, St. Michael.
The conference, which has as its theme Moving Forward Together: Taking The First Steps Toward Multi-disciplinary Care, is open to physicians, allied health care professionals and medical students.

They include Vice President of the International Diabetes Federation, Ann Belton; Canadian Registered Dietitian, Jeannette Fenner; Neurologist Dr. Kester Nedd of the United States; Ophthalmologist Dr. Charles Pierce of the United Kingdom; Vascular Surgeon Dr. Dale Maharaj and Nephrologist
Dr. Emile Mohammed of Trinidad and Tobago. Leading diabetes and multi-disciplinary care specialists from Barbados will also be among the resource persons.
The goal of the conference is to communicate the value of the multi-disciplinary care team to ultimately reduce the development of diabetic complications and the costs associated with providing that care.
