Regional Construction Company Boosts Productivity with Office 365 Cloud
One of the Caribbean’s leading civil engineering and highway construction companies, C.O. Williams, upgraded its software applications to Microsoft Office 365 last November and is already reaping the benefits.
The move to Office 365 was a natural progression for C.O. Williams, since the company was already using Microsoft Office and was satisfied with its performance.
Cloud storage has several advantages including easier deployment and greater accessibility and reliability than alternative storage methods. It also provides data security during disasters.
C.O. Williams considered two options, Office 365, which carries an annual license fee and Office 213, a one-time purchase but they opted for Office 365 small business which has several features that they judged very important to their business operations.
Office 365 is a rapidly growing cloud service, which is easy to set up and allows persons to work from anywhere. These characteristics are especially necessary for companies like C.O. Williams, which provides services across the Caribbean from its headquarters in Barbados and regional offices, located in Antigua and St. Lucia.
Mr. Williams said the company has not yet fully explored some of these features contained in Office 365 and the implementation is still in process.
But he said they have been using the Calendaring feature ‘quite a bit’ to monitor operations such as vacations and for booking meeting rooms.
The Offline and Online Email and Calendaring can be synchronised to key devices including mobile phones and Mr. Williams said that some C.O. Williams employees were already using these features on their mobile phones.
This lends to efficiency and improved productivity by increasing the opportunity for prompt, easy, secure and convenient communication and collaboration between the company’s team members and clients in a safe environment.
The company also welcomes the fact that Office 365 provides the opportunity for double websites, one for team and one for the public but C.O. Williams is still working on the roll out for these.
Mr. Williams said that programme was working fairly well at the moment and he was complimentary of the service provided by Microsoft and JP Marshall Associates.
JP Marshall Associates plays an important role in helping companies acquire the appropriate computer network solutions. It also proactively monitors and provides remote technical support for companies thereby minimising costly on-site visits. This unique integrated approach ensures cost efficiency, optimal performance and reliability for clients such as C.O. Williams.
