The Tobago Agro-processors Association (TAPA), with support from the Caribbean Local Economic Development Project (CARILED) and the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and just launched ‘Brand Tobago’ at the Magdalena Hotel, Tobago.

Under the auspices of The Government of Canada, through the High Commission of Canada to Trinidad and Tobago and CARILED, TAPA showcased its products to local hotels, supermarkets and other stakeholders.

TAPA is an association made up of twenty (20) micro-businesses, will produce a range of products including sauces (jams, jellies, chutneys and pastes), beauty products (soap, haircare products), teas, fresh fruit juices, and preserved fruits, fish and meats under a single brand.

With support from CARILED, TAPA purchased agro-processing equipment and secured factory rental for their production lines.

A shared bottle labeller, multi head bottle filler and commercial dishwasher will be available to all members.

TAPA also purchased bulk bottles and will sell them on consignment to members and non-members to generate revenue for operation and management of the factory. TAPA also developed sales agreements, annual dues, usage fees and schedules for the equipment, with the assistance of CARILED.
