SURINAMESE NATIONAL CHARGED WITH DRUG OFFENCES

In furtherance to the investigation where Guyanese national Roland Felix is currently on remand after being charged with a drug offence, members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged Surinamese national Benito Sylvester, a 33 year old Taxi Driver for the following offences:

1. Possession of cocaine
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation of cocaine.

Sylvester and Felix arrived in Barbados and checked in at an apartment at Dover, Christ Church. Police executed a warrant at the apartment the two men shared and 87 packages of cocaine were discovered and seized. These packages were reportedly passed out by Sylvester while at the apartment. Sylvester was detained and referred to the QEH where he passed a further 13 packages he had ingested. 100 packages in total were seized, weighing 1 ½ kgs.

Sylvester is expected to appear at the Oistins Magistrates Court on Thursday March 12, 2015, and Felix is also to reappear at the same court.
