Cave Hill Campus student levels accusation of Complacency against Barbados Police in light of Stalker harrassment
EDITOR’s NOTE: Apart from ensuring spelling and reversing certain paragraphs in order to lay out photographic evidence, this article from Cherisse Berkeley is already on Facebook and we invite Inspector David Welch to refute or verify? It is also sad that Cave Hill in the midst of Government cost-cutting has no Law Enforcement of its own? The same way many colleges and Universities the world over have their own security?
As a foreign student I am seriously disappointed in the performance of the ‘Royal Barbados Police Force‘.
Thus far I’ve attempted to seek their assistance on three occasions, all of which their responses were lackadaisical, with no follow up. However, in the early morning of Sunday 22nd March 2015, they have hit an all time low in my books.
On many occasions our requests for assistance never arrived or response time is so lengthy that suspicious persons around the area, have already left, or are hiding in the bushes in the area… leaving them to say “we came and saw nothing, and so we can do nothing“.
On the few occasions that a patrol car came to the area, they spend about two minutes on the street and do not look in the bushes/abandoned plots.
This morning, I was told by a Police officer and I quote: “She should close her windows“. My friends live in basement apartments, closing her windows is not a viable option.
Further, the officers neglected to take a statement, nor did they inspect the scene. When asked if they needed some extra light in the area they refused and then proceeded to spend less than 30 seconds looking at the area around the window… in the dark before going on their seemingly merry way.
