Initial reports on Air Canada – their 777 had to return to Barbados, due to a possible fire in the cargo hold. It’s back down safely above gate 22, surrounded by fire trucks etc.

A source on board the flight indicated;-

"THIS JUST IN - AC 967 to Toronto's flight had to double back to Barbados due to a possible emergency on board. The source said it appears to be a sensor in the baggage section and it indicated that there was fire on board the craft. Emergency personnel responded. Fire tenders were onsite with dousing gear on standby. Plane had to be parked on upper runway, while the passengers were taken back to the departure lounge via GAIA bus!"
