SHOOTING INCIDENT AT NEW ORLEANS.

A shooting incident occurred at 7th Avenue New Orleans, St. Michael about 9:30 pm on Sunday 22nd February 2015, where a number of armed men entered the community and started shooting. Three (3) persons, 2 men and a woman, received gunshot injuries; none of the injuries were life-threatening.

The most serious of the three was one of the men; he underwent surgery and is now in a stable condition.

Four houses and two cars were damaged.

CANADIAN ARRESTED FOR DRUG OFFENCES

Police have arrested and charged Canadian national Clifford Uba Ejimamu, 39 years, with the offences of:

1. Possession of cocaine
2. Possession with intent to supply;
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation.

(PORT AS DEMO ONLY, NO VESSELS IMPLICATED) On Saturday February 21, 2015, Drug Squad personnel conducted a search of a cabin on the Cruise Ship ‘Oceana’ occupied by Ejimamu, who was a passenger. Cocaine weighing 1.5 kgs was discovered and seized.

The Canadian national appeared at the District A Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to all of the charges against him…

He was sentenced as follows:

1. On the charge of Trafficking, he was fined $75,000 forthwith or 2 years in prison;
2. On the charge of Importation, he was fined 25,000 forthwith or 2 years in prison;
3. He was Convicted, Reprimanded and Discharged on the charges of Possession and Possession with intent to supply cocaine.

The sentences are to run concurrently.
