The inaugural Human Resource Management Association of Barbados (HRMAB) week of activities is set to be a very enlightening and educational experience thanks to input from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the World’s Largest HR Membership organization,.

During the week being held from Sunday February 22nd until Saturday February 28th, Human Resource practitioners will have the opportunity to interact with and engage a lead official with SHRM Mr. Robert Garcia, Director, Global Business Development

The featured speaker at the public lecture set for Wednesday, February 25th, Mr. Garcia said "I am looking forward to visiting with members of HRMAB and SHRM in Barbados to discuss future global trends in human resource management and their impact on the Caribbean. I cannot think of a better place to spend a week, while being given the opportunity to share SHRM's plans for HR training and certification programmes in Barbados."

In keeping with his commitment to developing programmes for training and certification, similar to relationships which SHRM has established with HRMATT in Trinidad & Tobago and HRMAJ in Jamaica, Mr. Garcia will also be meeting with HRMAB members on Thursday, February 26th, during a session focused on facilitating the continued development of Barbadian HR practitioners.

HRMAB President, Glenda Gilkes commented “Having Mr. Garcia here will be a great boost for the week of activities, especially given our theme ‘Acknowledging our Strength; Embracing our Relevance‘. By strengthening our relationship with SHRM we will be in a position to enhance the level of certification of our local practitioners, their competencies and hence their relevance and importance to companies and businesses locally.

Founded in 1948, SHRM represents more than 275,000 members in over 160 countries, with more than 575 affiliated chapters with the United States and subsidiary office in China, India and the United Arab Emirates. SHRM is also the leading provider of resources to serve the needs of HR professionals and advance the professional practice of human resource management.
