Barbados Film and Video Association (BFVA) ELECTS NEW BOARD & RECEIVES TRAINING FUND
The Barbados Film and Video Association (BFVA) held its Annual General Meeting in January 2015 and elected a new board. The Board consists of seven (7) executives and three (3) floor members.
Returning President, Lynette Eastmond thanked all present for the opportunity to serve and stressed the importance of cohesion and contribution to activities by all members.
She also informed those present that the Association had been successful in securing funding from the Competency Based Training Fund (CBTF) to offer regionally recognized courses in several areas of film including sound, directing, acting and more. The BFVA will work with BIMAP to have the courses accredited and each participant will be awarded a regionally recognized certification that will allow them to work anywhere in the Caribbean.
Training is free to all members of the BFVA and members were encouraged to invite others to join and take advantage of the opportunity. Founded in 2008, the Barbados Film and Video Association is a National non-profit body which provides training in film and television as well as promotion for its members work with the aim of growing the fledgling film industry and improving the island’s visual offerings.
