As an independent 16-year-old with a relentless passion for design, Kelly Hoppen was given the opportunity to design a family friend’s kitchen. This modest commission kick-started one of the most celebrated and extraordinary careers in the design industry.
Kelly launched Studio Hoppen and Kelly Hoppen Couture in September 2014 – the former is a service led solely by her talented design team utilising the same resources, studios, designers, architects and all round excellence that the larger projects receive, whilst the latter allows the client to create a completely bespoke design considering all areas of their unique lifestyle with access to Kelly’s coveted “black book” to facilitate this.
Kelly is honoured to be the recipient of copious design awards and the proudest point in her career to date came in 2009, when she was made an MBE for her services to interior design. Recognised for the passion of empowering women in business, she was awarded the NatWest Everywoman Ambassador award in December 2013.
With 40 years of experience at the forefront of the industry, publishers and businesses continually seek Kelly’s unparalleled expertise, allowing her to indulge her entrepreneurial instincts. As she is passionate about making her design ethos accessible to the masses, Kelly launched her eighth book Design Masterclass in November 2013.
In 2013 Kelly became an investor on BBC Two’s hit Dragon’s Den entrepreneur show and has since invested and helped make a success of several businesses including Skinny Tan, Reviveaphone and The Box of T. In 2011 she fronted Channel 5 Design Series, Superior Interiors.
The Kelly Hoppen brand, keeping true to its core values of high quality, simplicity and timeless elegance, has collaborated with likeminded brands and partnered with a select number of licensees.
A dedicated supporter of good causes and the championing and nurturing of younger and older British entrepreneurs, Kelly is an ambassador for the Princes Trust and the Princes Initiative for Mature Enterprise. Kelly is also a proud ambassador for the British Government’s GREAT campaign and has worked with UK Trade & Investment mentoring small and medium sized businesses.
Kelly launched her debut e-commerce store, kellyhoppen.com, in January 2014. The affordable luxury store features a self-designed home products range including accessories, bed linen, cushions, candles, furniture, towels and robes and gifts, all carrying Kelly’s iconic style.
