ABI 0652

On the day that Barbadians proudly celebrated one of our greatest social activists and leaders, the Right Excellent Errol Barrow, for the huge impact he made to the country and its people, it was fitting that Columbus Barbados celebrated its most important asset – its employees – the ones who make the biggest impact in the telecoms landscape in Barbados to date.

Managing Director Mr. Niall Sheehy said, "Staff development is an important, long-term policy of Columbus and our people are our most valuable asset. In addition to providing comprehensive training to our staff, we are committed to building a harmonious workplace and enabling our employees to strike a good balance between work and leisure. This year's Family Fun Day was the first we've ever held of its kind and it allowed every participant to embrace the culture of the team and the feeling of family.

In addition to providing comprehensive training to our staff, we are committed to building a harmonious workplace and enabling our employees to strike a good balance between work and leisure. This year’s Family Fun Day was the first we’ve ever held of its kind and it allowed every participant to embrace the culture of the team and the feeling of family.

“Our first-ever Family Fun Day brought our employees together to reinforce that while we work hard together, we play hard together but can only do so when we rely on and support each other and those who support us – that’s what makes us a very special company. So we take this very special day, January 21, to not only celebrate one the greatest Prime Ministers of Barbados Mr Errol Barrow, but to take what he stood for – his policy of inclusion and development – and live it though our staff,” he added.

The atmosphere at Banks Playing Field in Wildey, St Michael, attracted more than 300 employees and their families where it was both festive and lively with jumping tents, rock climbing and face painting for the children and children at heart, friendly competition in sports like cricket, dominoes and football for the adults, and lots of food, drinks and laughter.

Human Resources Manager Mrs. Paula Walcott said “We at Columbus constantly strive to promote a healthy lifestyle and an optimum work-life balance for our people. Our team not only spent a wonderful break with their families but also benefited from the games to strengthen bonding between them and their colleagues in order to boost overall team spirit. It’s on special days like this that we celebrate the excellent culture we share as a team.
