Special Christmas Edition of Mahalia’s Corner This Friday: NexCyx hosts a holiday edition of their popular open mic showcase
Fans of the band NexCyx will get an early holiday gift this year when the group stages the first ever Christmas Edition of Mahalia’s Corner at Bagatelle Great House on Friday, December 19th.
The special feature, headlined by singer Rhesa Garnes, follows on the heels of a successful season of the popular open mic showcase which concluded in November to packed audiences with performances by local legends Alan Sheppard and Biggie Irie.
NexCyx front woman Mahalia, who conceptualized the Corner, said it was an honour to have Rhesa spotlighted in the show. “Rhesa went to school with me and I always wanted sing like her. I always looked up to her and to now have her on the show as a peer is humbling and inspiring,” she exclaimed.
In addition to the featured artist, the Christmas edition will open with a performance from NexCyx followed by guest performances by singer/songwriter Debbie Reifer, who has released a new Christmas album “Noel“, and gospel singer, Pasquin. As always the open mic portion of the show is open to anyone in the audience brave enough to sign up.
“Mahalia’s Corner has always been about giving and sharing, so it’s a perfect pairing with the holiday season,” Mahalia continued. “We just could not pass up the opportunity to do a show like this, especially around this time. We are really excited and patrons can expect the same great show but with a few Christmas surprises.”
The show starts at 8pm.
