“Taking HR Forward: Facing the Challenges Together” – 12th November 2014

The Human Resource Management Association of Barbados will be hosting a One-day Symposium on November 12th, 2014, under the theme “Taking HR Forward – Facing the Challenges Together.” Prime Minister Freundel Stuart – QC, will deliver the Feature Address and declare the Symposium open.

{PERSONAL FILE IMAGE} The main objective of the initiative is to address the challenges currently being faced across both the private and public sectors in Barbados, with regards to issues such as organisational re-engineering, separations, redundancies and layoffs, which have become features of the employment landscape in Barbados in recent times.

The Symposium will take the form of two concurrent sessions in the morning, one focusing on assisting the young professional entering the field of HR Management, while the second will cater to the needs of the more seasoned practitioner, as well as the company executive. The afternoon session will be open to all participants and will focus on proposed revisions to existing legislation, as well as new legislation currently being debated and discussed in Barbados, with emphasis on the provisions of The Holidays with Pay Act and the draft Sexual Harassment legislation. Each session will take the form of an instructional workshop, where participants will have an opportunity to be actively engaged.

The Symposium will be held at the Radisson Aquatica Resort, Bay Street, St. Michael and is scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m.
