The film tells the story of Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), an African-American violinist who lives with his wife and two children in New York. After accepting an offer to be a musician in Washington, two men drug Solomon and deliver him to a slave pen where he is enslaved for twelve years. Directed by Steve McQueen.
