An International event devoted to recognizing the importance of Customer Service to any organisation, the international celebration has taken place during the first week of October dating back to 1991.

Each year, thousands of companies around the world including leading financial, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, retailing, hospitality, communications, not-for-profit and educational organizations, as well as government agencies and others join in the activity.

Managing Director of Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd, Raphael Grisoni, said the premium rum producer readily identified with this year’s theme “say yes to excellence” and were therefore pleased to join with other foremost companies around the world in recognising the importance of excellent customer service.

Mount Gay is the world’s original rum, and a legitimate premium rum brand. We have also set our sights on being regarded among the world’s super-premium spirit brands in the very near future, and this can certainly be achieved by saying yes to excellence in everything that we do. So this Customer Service Week is an opportunity for us to reinforce the values that we represent as a brand, including excellence in customer service and every other aspect of our business,” Grisoni said.

During the special week, staff of Mount Gay were involved in a variety of activities, including special staff training exercises, and departmental exchanges giving employees a view of what life is like for colleagues in other departments of the company.

Several longstanding customers of Mount Gay were rewarded throughout the week as staff distributed gift baskets and thank you cards as tokens of appreciation.

Mount Gay also made a donation to the HIV AIDS Food Bank from the proceeds of an appeal which was conducted during September and early October, and the week’s activities climaxed on Friday, October 10th, with a Service Excellence Experience bringing together staff and customers at the Mount Gay Visitors Centre.
