Customs go up in man’s Grill – Hindsbury Road resident arrested for drug smuggling…
As a result of a Police and Customs operation at the Airport, Anthony Shawn Simmons, of Hindsbury Road, St. Michael was arrested and charged by members of the Drug Squad with the following offences:
1. Possession;
2. Possession with intent to supply;
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation of 13 lbs of cannabis.
{FILE IMAGE – barbecuegrills.us} On Tuesday 22nd October 2014, Simmons went to the Airport to clear a barbeque grill on a wooden palette from Canada. He was intercepted on a nearby roadway by members of the Drug Squad and taken to the Oistins Police Station. A search of the palette revealed 12 packages of compress cannabis hidden inside. Total weight 13 lbs.
Simmons appeared at the District B Magistrate Court on Thursday 23rd October 2014 and pleaded guilty to the charges. He was granted bail in the sum of $50,000 to return to Court on 20th January 2015 pending a pre-sentencing report.
