Columbus Recognises and Rewards All-Stars

Columbus Communications Ltd is determined to become the Employer of Choice and has launched the Columbus All-Star Awards for its staff. The newly developed initiative was designed by the cooperate team of Columbus Communications to recognise and reward team members across the region. As a result, two out of eight nominees from the Columbus’ Barbados team Nikolas Rock and William Sargeant were awarded an All-Expenses paid trip to Miami along with spending money to relax and attend the Corporate Staff party come this November as the company celebrates 10 years.

Human Resources Manager, Paula Walcott said “We have a very hardworking team at Columbus Barbados, and we want our team to know that we appreciate their dedication to the mission of this company, without our team the milestones Columbus has achieved would not have been possible therefore we are building a culture of recognition“.

From the 240-plus staff members, names were submitted to staff and then voted via an online survey for those staff members they deemed deserving. Eight nominees were selected based on the degree to which they were exemplary in leadership, teamwork, innovation, customer service excellence and service to the community – the foundation of which the Columbus All Star initiative is built on across the region. Those eight persons were able to share breakfast and talked openly with Managing Director, Niall Sheehy before he announced the two winners.

Mr. Sheehy said this about the nominees “I am proud of each and every one of our nominees, the long hours they put in, the always ready-and-willing attitude and the will to see this company succeed doesn’t go unnoticed.” He added that “Columbus will continue to develop and implement strategies to ensure that all our team members are happy, recognised and rewarded accordingly as it is one of our goals to become the Employer of Choice.”

Nikolas Rock is a Network Administrator and is described by his peers as someone who goes above and beyond to get the job completed and William Sargeant, lead-hand linesman on the construction team has over 26 years’ experience, he is often looked to for guidance and his work ethic is top quality, consistently meets and exceeds targets.
