It can be confirmed that the BHL Group of Companies has been confronted by an “orchestrated wildcat strike” affecting all companies within the Group. Staff attached to the entities of Banks (Barbados) Breweries Limited, the Barbados Bottling co. Limited, B&B Distribution Limited and PINE HILL Dairy have withdrawn their labour in an unexpected and unprecedented move.

November 1st 2014 will signal the rebrand of B&B Distribution Limited to Banks Distribution Limited. Again, we are uncertain as to if this impending rebrand has any bearing on the current industrial action but it must be noted that the BWU was apprised of this development via correspondence on September 3rd. BHL has invited the BWU into talks to outline the plan and the BWU has declined to participate in such meetings which will impact 2 members of the bargaining unit.
There are nine other non-unionized members of staff with whom we have hosted independent discussions and agreements and whose packages have been settled. They remain separate and distinct from those in the bargaining unit.
