GUYANESE NATIONAL CHARGED WITH DRUG OFFENCES

Police have charged Guyanese national Thakurdeo Heeraman 35 years with the offences of:

1. Possession
2. Possession with intent to supply
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation of 12.13 kgs of cannabis.

On Saturday 20th September 2014, Heeraman arrived at the Port as a crew member of a Tug Boat, which towed a barge with a produce Consignment from Guyana.

A joint operation was carried out by the Police Drug Squad and Customs Enforcement on Tuesday 23rd September 2014 at the Port and the subject was arrested and the drugs seized.  The drug was contained in 18 packages in a garbage bag.

Heeraman appeared at the District A Court on Monday 25th September 2014 where he pleaded guilty to all the charges. He was remanded by Magistrate Fredericks to Dodds Prison until 23rd October pending sentencing.
