Go Pink for Montserrat’s Caribscan & Pink Ribbon Charity Week
Montserrat is being encouraged to Go Pink in October and support the annual fundraising drive by Caribscan and the Pink Ribbon Charity.
Owner of Caribscan and the founder of the Pink Ribbon Charity Sonia Charles recently announced the list of activities for the annual week of events to benefit the Mammogram Fund.
The Pink Ribbon Charity Barbeque will be held at Olveston House on Wednesday October 8th from 6:30pm. Tickets are EC$ 75.00 and can be purchased from members of the charity and at Economy Bakery in Brades. On Thursday 9th October at 7 pm, Podiatrist Angela Davis will speak at the Montserrat Cultural Centre on Feet for Life. She will also be available to see patients on Friday at the Davy Hill Medical Centre. On Saturday October 11th there will be a Breakfast and Cake Sale at The Lyme in Brades from 6am and the fourth annual Pink Ribbon Walk from Lookout to The Lyme begins at 7 pm.
Following the walk, there will be music, food and BINGO to benefit the fund.
Since 2010, more than 150 women have been able to have free mammograms in Antigua through the fund. Charles said she continued to be grateful and appreciative of the organisations and people who come together to support the cause which is empowering women to live healthier lives.
Over the years partner entities have included the Ministry of Health, Fly Montserrat, the Ministry of Communications and Works and ZJB Radio Montserrat. This year Cordella Yearwood of Cordella’s Crochet Accessories will be donating the proceeds from her pink crocheted pins to the cause.
