Barbados chapter of Global charity, Variety receives assistance from Stansfeld Scott
Variety the Children’s Charity of Barbados got a major boost recently when longtime corporate supporter Stansfeld Scott presented Haliborange Backpacks complete with a Seven Seas tote bag for games; Haliborange vitamins; Ovaltine Malt Powder and Haliborange pencil cases to the charity for its ever growing Back to School Programme.
The charity has assisted close to 300 children through its Back to School Programme this year as compared to last year where the charity assisted 198 children. With the number of children needing assistance on the island increasing with every new school year, the charity is extremely grateful to Stansfeld for their generous donation.
According to Executive Director of Variety the Children’s Charity of Barbados, Donnah Russell, “Stansfeld Scott has been responsive to Variety’s requests for assistance for many years now. Variety is happy receive these back bags on behalf of the many children who would have to otherwise go to school with books in hand or in a plastic bag! We encourage other corporate entities to come on board with us so that we can fulfill this demand for backpacks for the kids.”
According to Tanja Harris, Sales & Division Manager of Stansfeld Scott, “Nelson Mandela quoted -“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way it treats it’s children“; This quote depicts the very essence of what the Variety Club stands for and we at Seven Seas in association with Stansfeld Scott are delighted and proud to be able to support and contribute. As many families face the struggles and challenges life has to offer, the innocence of our children can bring so much joy, sunshine and hope for the future. Sometimes we all just need a little helping hand from our friends, neighbours and our community. We feel truly blessed to be able to assist with the Back to School programme and look forward to continue supporting the efforts of the Variety Club.”
Variety the Children’s Charity of Barbados is one of more than 40 international tents (or chapters) located in 13 countries around the world. The charity will celebrate its 20th Anniversary in November.
