On Sunday, this annual seagoing escapade culminates on the South Coast with all the classes competing including the racer cruiser class which would do a long race as well as the multihull class.

Burke told reporters; “The South Coast from a spectator’s point of view is a good view to take in the action and the boats come quite close to the shore which would be good for spectators.”

This year's event would also lay it on the line for the J24 National Championship which is a straight battle between Esperanza and Impulse which are the two leading boats. These are expected to be going all out to secure the national championship on Sunday.

Esperanza is skippered by Ian Mayers and Neal Burke mans the Impulse. Burke also indicated five classes would be competing with the first two races for the J24 Class scheduled to start at Carlisle Bay this Saturday at 2 p.m.

Chairman of Harris Paints, Ralph Johnson, said the junior sailing is crucial in keeping the tradition alive and that any myths of who can or cannot sail, is just that – an Urban Legend. {CLICK ON FOLLOWING ICON FOR FULL AUDIO – SMARTPHONE OR TABLET USERS CLICK ON Mr Johnson’s NAME FOR THE LINK}
