Mark Linehan, Digicel Barbados’ CEO, emphasised Katrina’s point how a mobile phone is not just a means of talking it’s an alarm clock, a diary, a newspaper and the function keep changing and increasing – why not reach people where they’re most likely to be? {CLICK ON FOLLOWING ICON FOR FULL AUDIO – SMARTPHONE OR TABLET USERS, PLEASE CLICK ON Mark‘s NAME}
Carol Martindale, Nation Publishing Editor, won a Samsung S5 phone via Text, while Petra Roach, President of the Barbados Tourism Authority, got a Text message she won an Ad Campaign with Digicel MORE (Must… Hide.. Jealousy! Grrr! Ssshh!) and patrons were not only given fabulous hors d’oeuvres but treated to fine jazz from Marius Charlemagne’s ensemble!
While the celebrations went on further than intended due to heavy rains, patrons were able to watch videos listing fascinating data such as Twitter now is captivating the 50 plus crowd, and how 3 out of 5 gay couples met online. My favorite were the black and white movie vignettes given subtitles as if Social Media existed in the 40s to the 60s, hilarious, these were award winning Vines!
