On Saturday June 7th 2014, a robbery occurred at the Fontabelle, St. Michael branch of Chefette by an armed assailant, and a sum of money was stolen. Police responded and encountered the assailant at the east entrance to the Chefette compound fleeing from the area.

At that time he attacked the Police and fearing for their safety discharged their service firearms.  The assailant was wounded and died at the scene.   The assailant has been identified as Carlisle Peter Jones, 52 years, of Boarded Hall, Christ Church.  His identity was confirmed by a family member last night.

Two traumatized female employees of Chefette are under counselling, there was one who’s pregnant and had to be rushed to the QEH, but no one was physically injured.

Investigations have been launched into the robbery at Chefette and the shooting of Carlisle Jones; we are appealing to any person who would have witnessed the robbery and or the shooting to call Police Emergency telephone number 211.
