Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Competency Based Training Fund to host a “Lunch & Learn” session
The Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) and the Competency Based Training Fund (CBTF) are teaming up to assist local businesses in retraining and re-tooling their workforce through competency based training, a continuing education concept geared towards improving work performance through the adoption of “soft skills” as a complement to technical skills.
Liaison Officer with the Competency-Based Training Fund (CBTF) Management Unit Ms. Andrea Austin believes that this type of training in the workplace is useful for companies seeking to increase productivity, gain a competitive edge and improve customer relations. While some companies may be reluctant or unable to allocate funds to training, Ms. Austin pointed out that such companies can benefit from the training through grant funding.
Executive Director of the BCCI Mrs. Lisa Gale shared similar sentiments, adding that now was the time for employees to be re-trained, which could improve workplace efficiencies as employees would be exposed to new skills that would complement their technical skills at all staff levels.
The Lunch & Learn series is an initiative of the BCCI aimed at providing its members with the opportunity to learn first-hand strategies that can be employed to make them more efficient and keep them ahead of the competition.
