Youth-IN is about empowering young people to become agents of change, not to just sit by and receive support but to become actively involved in the development of their own sustainable future. Our mission is based on a 2010 report produced by the CARICOM Youth Commission, ‘Eye on the Future: Investing in YOUTH NOW for Tomorrow’s Community‘, to which many young people across the Caribbean contributed. The report shows the challenges of Caribbean youth and the costs of not investing in Youth.

Youth-IN's Project Manager Janine Chase told the press how Social Media such as Twitter and Instagram will be used to alert young people across the Caribbean of the series which is expected to begin in June this year.

Central to the Youth-In programme of support is the promotion of volunteerism as a strategic approach. The important role of volunteerism in preventing and reducing vulnerability to natural disasters is a priority area identified for Government of Italy assistance, not only within Youth-In programme components, but also through another Government of Italy funded programme, Enhancing Resilience to Reduce Vulnerability in the Caribbean. This parallel project is designed to promote the concepts of civil protection, safer communities and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
