Digicel just announced they’re bringing Haiti’s number one Compas band, Djakout#1, to Little Haiti, Miami to play two intimate events.

The performances are set to take place on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th January 2014 in partnership with the Haiti Cultural Centre and the Rhythm Foundation, respectively.

Lucky audience members in attendance are in for a treat with special guest and Digicel Brand Ambassador, Jacques Bourjolly “Kako”, also set to take the stage.

Digicel Diaspora’s CEO, Stephen Bannon, said; “Compas music is unique to Haiti and its people having been shaped over many years – and by many different influencers. As such, we are thrilled to be connecting those in the Haitian Diaspora community to their culture from back home. Last year was a great one for Djakout, having been named Carnival Champions twice in one year and this year is set to be even bigger and better starting with these two events.

He continues; “We are also very proud to be continuing our commitment to the redevelopment of Haiti, with funds from these events going towards that – particularly at this time of year when many people are also remembering those whose lives were impacted by the earthquake of 2010.”
