Reinstatement of CCC & Withdrawal of Resignation Call, from: DAVID COMISSIONG, CPM President
On behalf of the officers and members of the Clement Payne Movement of Barbados, I would like to publicly congratulate Mr. Dave Cameron, the President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the other members of the WICB’s Board of Directors for making the decision to reinstate the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in the regional 50 overs cricket competition.
By making this highly laudable decision, Mr. Cameron and his fellow Directors have shown themselves to be men and women who are big in spirit – men and women who are willing to listen to constructive criticism, and who are capable of admitting and correcting their errors. These are qualities that all true leaders must possess.
Our organisation strongly believes that the CCC cricket team and the associated Sagicor High Performance facility are a God-send for the young cricketers of our region, and constitute a critical plank in the strategy to restore West Indies Cricket to its rightful place at the pinnacle of international Cricket.
Our organisation would also like to use this opportunity to urge all members of the Board of Directors of the WICB to take special pains to ensure that nothing that they do or say is tainted with any hint of insularity or petty island nationalism. This, as we all know, is the surest recipe for destabilising and derailing the progress of West Indies Cricket.
In light of the positive and pleasing outcome of this matter, the Clement Payne Movement hereby withdraws its call for the resignation of Mr. Cameron.
