Barbados gets loan from CDB for flood hazard reduction
The Caribbean Development Bank is providing a loan of USD $4.615 million to the Government of Barbados to finance a project to reduce flood hazard risks in Speightstown, the country’s second largest town.

{IMAGE VIA – sunnybarbados.net} Under this project, the capacity of the main storm drain in Speightstown will be increased from a 1-in-5 year rainfall flow event to a 1-in-20 year storm flow event.
The project also provides for technical assistance to improve the planning, execution, and funding of routine maintenance in Speightstown, and to develop and implement a community education programme on flood reduction measures in the town.
