Salvation Army’s ‘Christmas Kettle’ Launch 2013 – donations should help ALL needy!

If there is one often used saying with universal appeal, it is that “Sharing is Caring!

This memorable slogan will once again be foremost in the minds of Barbadians as The Salvation Army launches its annual Christmas Kettle Appeal on behalf of the less-fortunate among us.

Major Rosemarie Brown, head of The Salvation Army in Barbados and St. Lucia has announced that the 2013 Christmas Kettle Appeal will commence on Thursday, November 21, 2013 with a Launch Ceremony at Jubilee Gardens in the City.

“We are once again urging Barbadians to come out in their numbers and support the launch which helps to give early momentum to our Kettle and Letter appeals. We have always found Barbadians to be very caring people and even during times of recession, Barbadian people give more, and those who have benefitted also take the opportunity to give back,” Major Brown said.

This major fund-raising effort on the Salvation Army calendar is being sponsored this year by the Scotia Foundation, and the Army is hoping to raise BDS $700,000 through its "Kettle" and "Letter" appeals to support for its year-round social service programmes for 2013-2014.

Beginning at five o’clock in the afternoon, the Launch Ceremony will feature performances from Sister Margarita Marshall, Sing Out Barbados, the Limelight Chorale, The Salvation Army Youth Chorale and The Salvation Army Barbados Divisional Band. There will also be Special Greetings from the Member of Parliament for the City, Lieut.-Colonel Jeffrey Bostic, and Minister of Social Care, Steve Blackett.
