POPULAR BAJAN PARTY BOATS SUBJECT TO POLICE OPERATIONS: VEGETABLE MATTER RECOVERED

An operation which commenced about 11:45 pm on Saturday 16 November 2013, was conducted by members of the Police Marine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard, where the MV Buccaneer was stopped off the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex. It was escorted back to its berth at Cavans Lane and searches of the boat and persons aboard were conducted.

Loose quantities of cannabis were found discarded in various parts of the boat, weight 84 gms. Three (3) persons were arrested for possession of illegal drug cannabis. They were:

1. Dario Deigo Bowen, 20 years of Marchfield, St. Philip;
2. Javon Justin Fabian Yearwood, 24 years of Kendall Hill, Christ Church; and
3. Tania Nariba Grant, 33 years of Rockhampton Road, Grazettes, St. Michael.

The cruise was discontinued. The 3 persons are expected to appear at the District A Magistrates Court on Monday 18 November 2013.

At 4:45 am on Sunday 17 November 2013, a similar operation was conducted at the Wharf, Bridgetown, where the Black Pearl Jolly Roger 1 was docked.

Searches were conducted on the boat and persons aboard and loose quantities of cannabis were found discarded in various areas of the boat, weight 18 gms. No arrests were made.
