Fourteen dynamic youth leaders from the Caribbean Youth Think Tank (CYTT) gathered from across CARICOM at the United Nations House-Barbados for a strategic reflection exercise on “Youth as the Heart of Development.”
Established in May 2012, the CYTT describes itself as a grassroots think tank with a difference. “The CYTT is at the heart of youth participation,” according to one of the founding members, Crystal Alexander, “and strives to make the voice of youth stronger throughout the region.”
At present, the CYTT is actively engaged in encouraging entrepreneurship among regional youth through its arts and volunteerism platforms.
From 30th October until 1st November, 2013, the exercise covered a range of focal areas, such as promoting youth networks and programmes; enlarging the CYTT’s social media footprint; increasing dialogue between members and Caribbean policymakers; engaging youth leaders, partners and donors; and increasing the effectiveness of communication channels on policy formation.

The CYTT members concluded the strategic reflection exercise with a recommitment to creatively amplify the voices of young persons in the region and work together to collaborate on areas of major concern for youth. To find out more, please visit: www.youth-in.com
