BRITON ARRESTED FOR DRUG OFFENCES AT G.A.I.A

British national Robert Matthew Hayward, 35 years, has been arrested and charged with drug offences whilst at the Grantley Adams International Airport for the offences of:

1. Possession of 1 kilo of cocaine;
2. Trafficking;
3. Possession with Intent to Supply; and
4. Attempting to Export.

On Thursday 7 November 2013, Hayward presented himself at the airport intending to depart for the United Kingdom.  Members of the Drug Squad interviewed him and his suitcase was subsequently searched.  He was arrested after one package of cocaine, weighing 1 kilo was discovered in a false bottom of his suitcase.

Hayward appeared at the District A Magistrate Court on Friday 8 November 2013, and was remanded to appear at the District B Magistrates Court on 13 November 2013.
