Barbados Hosts First Ever Entrepreneurship Festival
treppinOut will host Barbados’ first entrepreneurship festival, ‘TrepFest’ for Global Entrepreneurship Week. Established in 2012, treppinOut is a place for entrepreneurs to learn, share and grow. In 2012, the organisation produced two entrepreneurship events: the treppinOut:Unconference and a simulcast of the Lean Startup conference from California.
This year, treppinOut is building an entreprenership festival, ‘TrepFest’ around the concept of ‘Lean Startup’ which is a method for developing businesses and products. Sillicon Valley Entrepreneur and Author of the book ‘Lean Startup’, Eric Ries suggests that if startups invest their time into iteratively building products or services to meet the needs of early customers, they can reduce the market risks and sidestep the need for large amounts of initial project funding and expensive product launches and failures.
TrepFest is a 3-day series featuring three events: a Lean Analytics Workshop featuring Montreal based Lean Analytics Author Alistair Croll, a networking mixer and treppinOut:Unconference. The festival is launched by a series of Lean Startup Meetups hosted in association with Foo Café Barbados.
According to the Entrepreneur and Founder of treppinOut, Corey McClean, “TrepFest is seeking to increase interest in entrepreneurship and create a more open and tightly knit community of entrepreneurs. Each event is designed to encourage entrepreneurs to share knowledge and learn from each other while building relationships.”
He added that treppinOut was working with the entrepreneurial community to make TrepFest a reality particularly the Managing Directors of Foo Café Barbados, Tara Wilkinson Communications, Drenalin Productions, and CleverGrocer. In a collective effort, the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Ltd (ICBL), Mgrafix and One Designs have also supported the event through sponsorship.
