Sir Richard Branson joins the Bigger, Better Network – NECKER PRIVATE ISLAND NOW POWERED BY DIGICEL BUSINESS
Sir Richard Branson’s private island, Necker, is now powered by Digicel Business. The agreement comes as a result of a fire that took place on the island in 2011 – which temporarily left it without any connectivity to the outside world.
With all main telecoms infrastructure destroyed, Digicel Business representatives stepped in to offer their assistance. Despite the challenging situation, the team worked with General Manager, Kenton Jones, to help get the island connected to the internet within a matter of days followed by Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) and fixed line services a couple of weeks later.
Digicel BVI Business Solutions Manager, Matthew Drum, said; “Digicel Business is committed to keeping customers ahead of the game with leading technology solutions. We strive to help companies solve modern business issues by ensuring the correct technology is there when it’s most needed, providing peace of mind to business managers and owners across BVI and the Caribbean.”
He continued, “We were delighted to be able to deliver on that commitment with our tailored solutions for Necker Island, including implementing state of the art technologies such as Multi Point Label Switching (MPLS), Direct Internet Access (DIA) as well as Data Replication and Recovery services.”
