So it is no surprise then that a new global changer is making waves at the age of 16, a young Pakistani girl by name of Malala Yousafzai in simply calling for an equal and universal right to be educated for all sexes. Her belief brought her closer to death’s threshold than many of her fellow teens would be likely to see in this day and age – through the innovations of this latest century, still mewling in time’s corridors, she was dragged from shedding this mortal coil and is the youngest nominee for a Nobel Peace Prize.

The right for Education is a core concept in most decent religions or administrations, so much so the late Right Excellent Errol W. Barrow made it his underpinning when seeking to be the first Prime Minister for an Independent Barbados almost half a century ago. Yet the very party he created has abandoned his principles, now – healthcare for many entails high costs and even worse… Tertiary Education; to be shared equally through taxation specifically designed to allow a janitor’s daughter or a cane-cutter’s son as much tuition as afforded to those previously deemed higher via color of skin or money or both; now ripped away like a lollipop from a squalling and innocent infant simply because a Government runs this country’s affairs like a religious Zealot.

Impinging on people’s rights under the guise of laws or verses for fanatical reasons be it political or philosophical is nothing new, as can be viewed in this scene from HBO’s the Newsroom…

When you have a Finance Minister who lists a whole chunk of his Budget as merely “Ad Lib” with numerous corrections thereafter, apart from an Education Minister who screams in Parliament if anyone dares questions Government and its policies then their heads should be caved in with truncheons or endure the same fate as Malala Yousafzai? Then you know we do not have a Government or a Regime we are in a glorified Gulag, and the time has come to stand forward and be counted – go to Queen’s Park at 2:00 pm today and remove Chris Sinckler with your signature, we may have voted and we can make mistakes… Similar happened in Greece not so long ago and the Party which was sent back in was recalled, if not in Athens then why not in Bridgetown?
