Globeathon Barbados – Walk to End Women’s Cancers, 29th Sept. 2013

On the weekend of September 29, 2013, participants in over 80 countries, will be making history by walking for 24 hours in solidarity with each other and with millions of women and families affected by gynecologic cancers. These silent and deadly diseases are a major global priority. Many cancers have a high chance of cure if detected early and treated adequately. Thus increasing awareness of cancers, screening, education and research are important steps in ending women’s cancers.

Thanks to our Platinum sponsor First Citizens and major partner The Barbados Cancer Society, Globeathon Barbados is determined to increase awareness, educate and initiate early screening for our women through the First Citizens Globeathon Barbados – A Walk to End Women’s Cancers. This is a 5 km walk from the Bay Street Esplanade through Bridgetown and back on Sunday September 29th, at 4:00pm.

The funds raised will be used to improve women’s cancer services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The event is open to the public for a registration fee of $30 for adults and $15 for children under 12. The registration package includes one themed T-shirt – Awareness, Education & Research and Screening.

We are pleased to have the support of 3 champions, our very own Soca Queen Alison Hinds, Love FM radio personality Gaynelle Marshall and Educator, Mrs Carolyn Boyce; wife of the minister of Health the Honourable Mr John Boyce. These ladies understand the importance of awareness, screening, education and research for early detection, treatment and possible cures. They have joined us to rally the Barbadian public for this very worthy cause. For more information visit Facebook/GlobeathonBarbados, Run246.com or contact us at Globeathonbarbados@gmail.com
