Geekfest is a weekly film series being held in August in association with AnimeKon, Barbados’ pop culture convention. Free to the public, Geekfest promotes and explores the relationship between American film and sequential art as well as exploring American “geek culture.” This aligns with the United States Embassy’s support of youth development programs in the Eastern Caribbean as well as support for projects such as AnimeKon that offer multiple platforms for economic empowerment for young Barbadians.
