Trinidadian charged & Drug eradication continues in rural Barbados

Dane Marvin Grainger 34 year old Trinidadian national was arrested and charged on Monday 19 August 2013, by members of the Drug Squad for the offences of:

1. Possession of 1 kilo of cocaine
2. Possession with intent to supply;
3. Trafficking; and
4. Importation.

On Monday night, 19 August 2013, Grainger arrived by air from Trinidad and on clearing Immigration, he was interviewed by Drug Squad personnel. He was referred to Customs, where a search of his haversack discovered to transparent packages containing 1 kilo of cocaine; he was subsequently charged.

Grainger appeared at the District B Magistrate Court today, Tuesday 20 August, 2013, and pleaded guilty to the charges. He was fined $35,000 to be paid by 02 September 2013, or 2 years imprisonment. He was remanded.

CANNABIS ERADICATION OPERATIONS CONTINUE

Members of the Marine Unit conducted land operations targeting the eradication of cannabis cultivation today Tuesday 20 August 2013, in several areas of the island. The Force continues to see an increase in this type of activity and we are ever more committed to continue the fight against illegal drugs whether on land or at sea.

A total of 1,730 cannabis plants along with 900 seedlings were found under cultivation and seized. All of were discovered in bushy areas.

  • At Airy Cot, St. George, 267 plants, 4’ to 6’ in height;
  • At Pot House, St John, 1,304 plants,4’ 7’ in height , along with 900 seedlings;
  • At Bowmanstan, St John, 150 plants 3’ in height;
  • At Woodland, St. George, 9 plants.
