Transatlantic boat christened on UN Slave Remembrance Day
UN Ambassadors joined New York AIDS activist Victor Mooney for the christening of his Brazilian rowboat that will raise awareness of AIDS and money for the UN permanent memorial for the transatlantic slave trade at New Yorks Skyport Marina earlier today
Mooney arrived with his boat after rowing from the World’s Fair Marina in Queens to Skyport Marina in Manhattan late in the afternoon. Later this year, Mooney will make his fourth bid to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
H.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of Equatorial Guinea is the patron of the Spirit of Malabo.
