‘FULL HOUSE’ OF ENTREPRENEURS FOR “BANK ON ME’s” BRIEFING SESSION

A full house of 30 entrepreneurs recently participated in a Briefing Session on the new Reality TV Show “Bank on ME” being presented by Blue Waters Productions in association with main sponsor Scotiabank. The session was held at Barbados Headquarters of the Caribbean Media Corporation one of the partners of the show.

The group of entrepreneurs from a variety of sectors who had applied or were interested in entering the show participated in an informative and lively discussion with some of the show’s team – Alison Saunders, executive producer/director, Andrea Allan, producer and Dr Basil Springer and David Neilands, both associate producers as well as attorney at law Lynette Eastmond who thoroughly explained the show, its production and the application process which closes on August 14 2013. The session was also attended by Senior Marketing Manager of Scotiabank, Lisa Cole.

Some interested entrepreneurs from the region also joined the session via Skype. Saunders welcome them and explained that the vision for the show is to have participation from throughout the Caribbean and that there had been such interest in the region that this pilot series would also be open to residents of other parts of the Caribbean.

“We wanted to get it right with our home market Barbados, where we are based first before we branched out so we did not have arrangements for regional entrants. But there has been such great interest from the region that we are delighted to include, entrepreneurs from the region who are willing to be in Barbados for the shoots on Tuesdays and Saturdays in September“, she later explained.

Entrants from outside of Barbados can also pitch via Skype (Skype name: BANKONMETV) for the screening show only on August 24th. Saunders further stated that on August 24th during the recording of the screening programme.

All applicants will have the opportunity to pitch their products and services for two minutes before a panel of judges who will determine the 12 finalists who will move to the next stage of the show.

She said that entrants can use props, audio visual aids to make their pitches more exciting and appealing. She reminded all applicants to pay attention to the completion of their application forms since they will be analyzed before their pitch and help determine the selection of the 12 finalists.

The entrepreneurs were encouraged to position their businesses to show some potential to earn foreign exchange either through export of products and services or engagement with tourism sector. Saunders explained the potential to earn foreign exchange would be one of the judging criteria for selection for the show, given its importance to the development of regional economies.

Application forms are available at bankonme.tv and can be submitted online or in special boxes at Scotiabank branches in Barbados.

Bank on ME” will be broadcast on CBC TV Channel 8 and on Caribvision from October and will also be available for viewing online. The show is presented in association with Scotia Bank with the support of the Caribbean Export Development Agency, Barbados Entrepreneurship Foundation, Fund Access, CBC TV, Caribvision and SFa Communications Inc.
